TAWI

Tawi for fitness desks & service sales

Cashless payments at your gym desk.

A fitness business can use Tawi’s service catalogue for separately sold sessions and its product catalogue for items at the desk. Request a Tawi wallet payment or send an M-Pesa prompt and keep a confirmed receipt. Payment for a service is not the same as managing a membership.

What it covers

List what the reception desk actually sells

Add service items for individual sessions or other separately priced work. Add products for retail items where appropriate, with stock tracking if you need it. A clearly named catalogue item helps staff request the right amount without implying that Tawi schedules the session or records attendance.

  • Use service items for separately paid fitness services.
  • Keep retail products and their stock settings distinct from services.
  • Describe the charge clearly and review the amount with the customer.

A familiar payment moment for returning customers

Customers using Tawi Pay can show their identity QR. A paired Tawi NFC card or band can identify them on supported staff hardware. Customer authorisation still follows the scan or tap. The Merchant POS can also send an M-Pesa prompt, so a gym does not need to assume every customer will use an NFC band.

Keep payment records separate from access decisions

Use confirmed sales receipts to check what a customer paid for. Keep membership status, class bookings and access rules in the system or process that manages those responsibilities. Do not treat the existence of a Tawi card or band as proof that a membership is current.

Be clear about the fit before rollout

The tools described do not promise recurring billing, automatic membership renewals, attendance tracking, trainer calendars or turnstile access. The supported fit is products, services, staff access and payments. Test devices and reception connectivity before depending on the workflow.

Getting started

Three steps to your first sale

  1. Define your desk charges

Create service and product items with clear names and prices. Identify which booking and membership tasks stay outside Tawi.

  2. Prepare the reception team

Assign staff permissions and test the QR or paired NFC flow. Check internet coverage where staff take payments.

  3. Confirm and record the sale

Request the agreed amount, wait for confirmation and retain the receipt. Update any separate membership process according to your existing rules.

Straight answers

Questions owners ask

Is a paired NFC band a gym access credential?

The band identifies a Tawi wallet customer for payment. This guide does not claim door access or turnstile integration, or that a band proves membership entitlement.

Will a service sale automatically renew a membership?

No automatic renewal capability is described here. A service item records a sale; membership renewal and recurring billing requirements must be handled separately.

Can we sell products as well as sessions?

Yes. The Merchant catalogue has product and service item types, with stock settings for products where configured. Use it for desk sales, not as a substitute for scheduling or attendance tools.
